Dolly Parton's Nephew Accused of Implementing Measures to Avoid Being Served Lawsuit, Estate Says
The estate says three service attempts failed as it seeks a longer injunction to curb alleged threats and interference with Parton’s business relationships.
Lawyers for Dolly Parton's estate, She's Alive, LLC, allege her nephew, Bryan Seaver, used barbed wire and caution tape to block access to his home while avoiding service of a lawsuit.
SAL filed a temporary restraining order against Seaver on September 22, alleging the nephew threatened to smear his aunt's legacy and made threats against several of her employees.
A process server reported failing to reach Seaver on September 24 and 25; upon returning Saturday, September 26, the server wrote there were "no trespassing" signs on the lawn and by the front door.
Officials agreed on Tuesday to reschedule the hearing for temporary injunctive relief to October 20, extending the temporary restraining order against Seaver until that date.
Lawyers allege Seaver employed a "campaign of threats" to "extract money" from Parton's business interests, justifying the estate's efforts to serve him despite his alleged evasive measures.
