- On Friday, more than 4,000 members of the Doctors of BC ratified a renewed four-year Physician Main Agreement, securing more than $1 billion in total funding for doctors and patient care.
- Voting concluded Thursday at midnight with nearly 92 per cent of physicians supporting the deal, following a voting period that ran from May 14 to June 4.
- The agreement allocates $100 million to address contracted doctors' workload increases while providing increased funding for rural family doctors and higher compensation for those providing specialized maternity care.
- "Our health care system is under enormous strain, and this agreement will help support doctors in delivering the best possible care," said Doctors of BC president Dr. Adam Thompson, emphasizing the "strong collaboration" involved.
- Health Minister Josie Osborne stated the deal underscores a common goal of providing better care, with the agreement aiming to ensure physicians remain "adaptive and responsive" to the needs of British Columbians across the province.
