Murray State initially took a 6-0 lead on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Jim Ogle to Jaxon Potter, but Southern Illinois responded by rushing for 229 yards and intercepting two passes.
Weston Schofield, the kicker, made four field goals while Joshua Newkirk returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, marking the Salukis' first such score since October 3, 2015.
Markell Quick finished with 145 receiving yards, including a 75-yard touchdown, and Williams connected with Edward Robinson for a 6-yard touchdown to build a 29-6 halftime lead.
