The U.S. representation in the UN organized an event with Cuban dissidents, described by Cuba as "mendacious spectacle." The event was held prior to the vote on the embargo on the island, generating criticism from the Cuban government for including controversial figures.
Cuban diplomats shouted "terrorists" and "outside the UN" at activists participating in an event on repression in Cuba organized by the U.S. at the UN headquarters.
The officials, representatives of the dictatorship that administers the island, pointed out as guilty of their hardships those who came to denounce their abuses.
