The Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism Offences (DIICOT) has announced that it has broken down a group in the west of the country which, at the request of Albanian traffickers, deals with the transport of hundreds of kilograms of drugs from Spain to other European states.
Romania announced the detection of an organized crime group that, in cooperation with Albanian drug traffickers, was involved in the transportation of large volumes of drugs from Spain to other European countries.
The DIICOT prosecutors and the police carried out, on Monday, 16 searches in Bucharest and in several counties, in a file aimed at a group that would have offered drug transport services for Albanian drug traffickers. The leader of the group, a Romanian citizen, was listed last year by EUROPOL, at the request of Romania, as High Value Target. DIICOT prosecutors have broken down, in an international investigation, a huge network of drug trafficking led by Cristian Măhălean in the shadows, saying "Matrix – a Romanian that Europol had passed on the list of the most wanted criminals in Europe (High Value Target).
