Difficult and unpopular decisions ahead, B.C. premier-designate Lorne Doerkson says
Doerkson says the 63-member caucus is ready to govern and promises quick action on the economy, health care and public safety.
On Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, British Columbia premier-designate Lorne Doerkson convened the 63-member Conservative caucus in Victoria, emphasizing unity while warning of difficult and unpopular decisions ahead.
Under former Tory leader John Rustad and successor Kerry-Lynne Findlay, rifts between hardline and moderate Conservatives emerged, leading more than a dozen MLAs to resign or leave the party.
Doerkson pledged PST exemptions and resource development, specifically LNG and forestry, to "supercharge our economy," while committing to repeal DRIPA as "quickly as possible."
Grand Chief Stewart Phillip and other First Nations leaders condemned the proposed DRIPA repeal, though Doerkson maintained his administration must govern for all British Columbians with integrity.
Legislators will be sworn in on Nov. 19, followed by the announcement of the new cabinet on Nov. 20, marking the official transition to governing.
