Detroit Lions Honor Jack Campbell by Wearing His No. 46 Jersey in Miami
On Sunday, Detroit Lions players and coaches arrived at Hard Rock Stadium wearing No. 46 jerseys to honor injured linebacker Jack Campbell ahead of their game against the Miami Dolphins.
Campbell suffered a neck injury during the team's 19-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last week and was transported to a hospital in Detroit for recovery.
In a statement released Wednesday, Campbell said he is "incredibly encouraged by the progress" made, reporting "full movement in my lower body" and continued improvement in his upper body.
Head coach Dan Campbell said Friday the Lions "owe it" to their injured teammate to prepare and play as if he were on the field, while the team placed him on injured reserve Saturday.
Whether the Lions placed Campbell on short-term or long-term injured reserve remains uncertain; if designated long-term, he would be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
