Despite Mullin’s comment, President Trump has grown wealthier while in office
Trump’s 2025 disclosure shows $1.4 billion from crypto and $2.2 billion in total revenue, according to The New York Times and Forbes.
Official filings show President Donald Trump earned at least $2.2 billion in 2025, up from $622 million in 2024, according to financial disclosures released this week.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin claimed at an Oklahoma rally that the presidency cost Trump money, asserting he experienced no financial gain compared to past presidents.
Cryptocurrency accounts for the majority of Trump's 2025 revenue, bringing in at least $1.4 billion. An additional $400 million came from real estate, legal settlements, overseas licensing agreements, and branded merchandise.
Forbes analysts report Trump is $2.7 billion richer than in 2024, with his current net worth reaching $7 billion. Robert Maguire of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said "2025 was the most lucrative year of Trump's life, by far."
The scale of Trump's wealth gains dwarfs those of recent presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who finished their tenures with $120 million and $70 million respectively. Experts suggest his largest revenue sources provided returns relatively free of traditional overhead expenses.
