Deshawn Purdie, Ethan Vasko guide Liberty to a 35-3 romp over Sam Houston
Liberty piled up 297 rushing yards and extended its winning streak to five as Sam Houston turned the ball over on downs three times.
On Thursday night, Liberty defeated Sam Houston in the Bearkats' Conference USA opener, with Deshawn Purdie throwing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Randolph and Ethan Vasko scoring two rushing touchdowns.
Piling up 297 yards on the ground, the Flames dominated the contest behind strong performances from Jaylon Coleman and Kam Davis, who combined for 159 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Purdie completed 10 of 14 passes for 114 yards, extending the Flames' winning streak to five games with his efficient passing performance.
The Flames improved to 26-1 in conference home games under head coach Jeff Traylor in his seventh season, with Terron Kellman capping the scoring on a 9-yard run.
Sam Houston hosts Western Kentucky on Wednesday seeking to rebound from its conference opener loss, while Liberty travels to Kennesaw State on Oct. 22.
