Delta plane wing clips empty aircraft during pushback from gate in Atlanta
FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA, AUG 10 – The Delta flight with 192 passengers was delayed nearly four hours after its wing clipped an empty aircraft during pushback, with no injuries reported, Delta said.
- On Sunday, Aug. 10, a Delta Air Lines plane reportedly made contact with an empty aircraft during pushback at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the airline said.
- During the pushback, the wing of flight DL1830 reportedly made contact with an empty Airbus A350, the airline said.
- No injuries were reported among the 192 passengers and six crew members, who were reboarded on a second aircraft that departed shortly before 2 p.m., about three hours late.
- Despite the wing clipping incident, the empty A350 continued normal operations, and the airline apologized to customers for delays, the airline said.
- Amid recurring safety concerns, this is the second incident involving a Delta plane in under two weeks, less than two weeks after turbulence hospitalized 25 on a Salt Lake City-Amsterdam flight.
