Decorah Woman Sentenced After Giving Pregnant Woman Drug-Laced Lasagna to Cause Miscarriage
Laboratory testing confirmed the lasagna contained oxycodone, and Snow pleaded guilty to seven counts in Winneshiek County District Court.
Amber Snow, 36, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to seven felony counts in Winneshiek County District Court, including intent to deliver oxycodone and attempt to intentionally terminate a pregnancy, receiving a 10-year prison sentence.
Investigators say Snow and 35-year-old Matthew Uthoff delivered oxycodone-laced lasagna to a family on December 28, 2025, with deputies alleging Snow intended for a pregnant woman to miscarry after eating it.
Laboratory testing by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory confirmed the lasagna contained oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance; Snow shared custody of a minor child with the victim's family, and investigators alleged the child was aware and objected to the plan.
Snow's guilty pleas resolved charges including child endangerment, attempted nonconsensual termination of pregnancy, delivering a controlled substance, and conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, while Matthew Uthoff pleaded not guilty in April and faces a jury trial beginning June 10th.
The decade-long sentence reflects the severity of deliberately delivering drug-laced food to a pregnant woman, as Uthoff's case proceeds separately toward trial on identical charges.
