A snowplow accident in the Ebelsberg district of Linz claimed one life early Friday morning. According to police, a 53-year-old winter service worker was run over while attempting to stop a snowplow that was sliding down a set of stairs. He sustained such severe injuries that he died at the scene.

In view of the large amount of snow, the fire brigades and other forces in Austria are in continuous use. In the whole of the federal territory heavy vehicles remained hanging on the snow-smooth roads on many sections and blocked the roads, as well as accidents. There are also difficulties at the Vienna-Schwechat airport. In Linz there was a fatal accident with a clearing vehicle in the Ebelsberg district.
