DDT dumped off Peninsula went straight into ocean, not contained in barrels, EPA says

Scientists discovered barrels of industrial waste beginning in 2011 off the Palos Verdes coast. From March 11 through 24, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration took a survey to find out how many barrels are out there. Multiple companies spent about four decades legally dumping chemicals into the Pacific Ocean at 14 deep-water disposal sites.
