10 Unheard David Bowie Songs to Be Released
The compilation gathers demos and alternate takes from Bowie’s 1965 sessions with Shel Talmy, including 10 songs never officially released.
- Parlophone will release The Shel Talmy Recordings on September 18, featuring David Bowie's 1965 studio sessions with legendary producer Shel Talmy before the artist became famous.
- During these 1965 sessions, the artist performed under his birth name, Davie Jones, recording with his bands The Manish Boys and The Lower Third before officially adopting the Bowie name.
- Future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and pianist Nicky Hopkins contributed to the sessions, bringing extra instrumental depth to the recordings from Statement 11, 26.
- Available for pre-order today, the compilation includes ten previously unreleased tracks, with 'I Want Your Love' released as the first preview.
- Music historian Alec Palao writes in the liner notes that these recordings capture the 1965 London music scene's excitement rather than judging by Bowie's later career standards.
