Data stolen from 8.7 million customers after three airports targeted in cyber attack
MAG said hackers accessed booking and Wi-Fi sign-up data for 8.7 million customers, but no bank or payment details were compromised.
On Tuesday, Manchester Airports Group discovered a cyber security incident affecting approximately 8.7 million customers across Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports.
Unauthorized third parties accessed personal information regarding car parking, lounge, Fast Track bookings, and WIFI sign-ups, though bank and payment details remain safe.
Airport operations remain unaffected, and MAG stated that "at no point has passenger safety or aviation security been compromised."
Passengers have been contacted via email, and MAG warned, "We will never contact you unexpectedly to ask for payment or banking information."
Manchester Airport confirmed all existing bookings remain valid despite the incident, and customers can find further updates on the company website.
A cyberattack on three UK airports has stolen the personal data of millions of customers, Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the airport operator, said on Thursday. The attack did not disrupt flights or airport operations, the company said.
