‘Dark Winds’ Adds John Patrick Jordan to Season 5 Cast: Everything We Know So Far
AMC ordered eight new hour-long episodes as the series adds new regular and recurring cast members for its next season.
AMC Networks officially confirmed Dark Winds Season 5 production has begun in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with Zahn McClarnon returning as Joe Leaphorn and director of episode 2.
Following the show's success, AMC announced the early renewal on February 5, 2026, 10 days before Season 4's debut, adapting Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee book series.
Recent casting announcements revealed Paola Núñez will play investigator Luisa Alvarado and Martin Sensmeier as Terry Bai, alongside Noel Fisher, Devin Sampson-Craig, and John Patrick Jordan joining the ensemble.
McClarnon stated it is "a privilege to embody the character of Joe Leaphorn," while showrunner John Wirth added, "We are one of one and never take this support for granted."
The network confirmed a 2027 premiere date for the series, which continues blending character-driven stories with Navajo culture and spirituality across eight new hour-long episodes.
