Holland’s hotly disputed “musket” speech — in which he admonished Brigham Young University’s faculty to take up metaphorical arms in defense of the faith’s opposition to same-sex marriage — the Latter-day Saint apostle pointed to a less familiar face: Clark Gilbert, the church’s “budding new commissioner of education” and his “traveling companion for the day.”
