Thane residents oppose Amazon data centre over heat, noise and power outage fears
Residents in Thane have intensified their opposition to Amazon’s proposed data centre in Balkum. The dispute has sharpened concerns over heat, noise, power demand and approvals in a dense residential area.
Locals are continuing to protest against the proposed Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center in Thane, Maharashtra. Under the banner of Wake Up Thanekar (WUT), people are protesting the construction of the center in the Balkum area.
Thane: Protests by Thane residents against Amazon's new data center project in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region are intensifying. The protest is being led by a group called 'Wake Up Thanekar'. The 53 acres of land in Balkum area of Thane is being built at a cost of around Rs 47,000 crore.
