Damage reported after apparent tornado in NW Harris County
Severe storm caused roof damage and power outages in northwest Harris County neighborhoods, with no injuries reported, officials said.
- On Monday, damage followed an apparent tornado touchdown in the Klein area of northwest Harris County, with Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reporting multiple possible tornado sightings near Mills and Perry Road and from Chasewood and Vintage Preserve moving westbound on FM-1960.
- An unstable atmosphere and wind shear spawned supercell thunderstorms across the region, producing reports of several tornadoes and prompting Tornado Warnings and a Tornado Watch until 7 p.m. Monday.
- Constable Mark Herman said over 100 homes were damaged and drones are being used to assess the impact, while CenterPoint Energy reported 11,486 customers without power as of 3:40 p.m., November 24, 2025, and drone video and Cy-Fair Fire Department photos showed torn roofs and debris.
- First responders and deputies are actively searching affected neighborhoods for injured or trapped residents, officials said no injuries have been reported and urged residents to avoid Barker Cypress Road near the Riatta Ranch subdivision due to downed power lines and a strong natural gas odor.
- The National Weather Service will conduct a storm survey on Tuesday to determine the twister's strength, and an additional line of storms is expected late this evening.
