Daa Wins Contract for New VIP Terminal at Washington
The 37,000-square-foot terminal will offer suites, lounges and baggage services under a 20-year operating deal, officials said.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority selected DAA International to develop and operate a new 37,000-square-foot VIP terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport, the first dedicated facility of its kind serving the Washington metropolitan region.
The agreement involves a 30-month development phase followed by a 20-year operating term, designed to provide commercial airline passengers with a premium alternative airport experience amid growing worldwide demand for such services.
MWAA Executive Vice President Chryssa Westerlund said the project reflects commitment to passenger choice, adding, "By introducing this premium service, Dulles is responding to traveller demand, supporting continued growth and joining other leading international airports."
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien called the contract a "positive endorsement" of DAA's expertise, noting it strengthens the group's North American presence following its recent duty-free award at JFK Terminal 4.
Global architecture firm Corgan will design the Washington facility, complementing DAA's expanding portfolio that includes managing Red Sea International Airport in Saudi Arabia and a VIP terminal currently being designed in Vietnam.
