Po jmenování papežem Lvem XIV. jeho jméno v poledne oznámilo tiskové středisko Vatikánu, sdělila mluvčí České biskupské konference Monika Klimentová. Nugent dosud působil jako vyslanec Svatého stolce v Kuvajtu, Kataru a Bahrajnu. Titulárním arcibiskupem je v irském Domnach Sechnaill, což je město v diecézi Meath.
