Okta skyrockets 20%, CrowdStrike surges 15% as rising AI threat boosts earnings
Both companies beat Wall Street estimates and raised forecasts as investors bet AI-driven security spending will keep accelerating, analysts said.
On Thursday, CrowdStrike and Okta shares surged after fiscal Q2 2027 earnings beats, with CrowdStrike gaining 15% and Okta surging 22% following both companies topping Wall Street estimates and raising forecasts.
Threats from Anthropic's Mythos and the OpenAI Hugging Face hack have forced businesses to scale security stacks to combat AI-agent attacks in recent months, positioning identity security as critical.
CrowdStrike posted $1.47 billion in revenue, up 26% year over year, with $0.31 EPS; Okta reported $805 million in revenue, up 11%, with $1.05 EPS topping consensus.
"We're in an arms race," CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said, noting AI is driving a divide between companies solving problems and those compounding them; Okta CEO Todd McKinnon emphasized identity controls.
Investors will watch if Thursday's gains hold into next week as analysts monitor Okta's billings, which dropped 5.4% to $681 million, while assessing whether AI-agent adoption momentum sustains long-term demand.
