BOULDER COUNTY, COLORADO, JUL 29 – Charlie Offerdahl retires after multiple concussions, ending his senior season and leaving the Colorado Buffaloes with only four scholarship running backs, coach Deion Sanders said.
- In a video posted to his Instagram, Charlie Offerdahl announced on Tuesday morning he is retiring from Colorado Buffaloes football after multiple concussions.
- Offerdahl’s decision follows repeated concussions, which he described as 'pretty scary for me and my family,' announced during a team meeting on Tuesday morning.
- A walk-on turned scholarship athlete, Offerdahl, carried 71 times for 340 yards and a four-yard touchdown under head coach Deion Sanders.
- With Offerdahl gone, Colorado Buffaloes now rely on seniors Simeon Price and DeKalon Taylor, junior Dallan Hayden, and sophomore Micah Welch, leaving four scholarship running backs.
- Despite stepping away, Offerdahl will remain on scholarship this year, according to Yahoo Sports, as he plans to apply to dental school.
