CSG enters space sector as largest shareholder in Canada's MDA Space
CSG said the investment supports its long-term space strategy as it builds a dedicated team and targets a market projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035.
On Tuesday, Czechoslovak Group acquired a 9.5% stake in Canada's MDA Space, becoming the largest shareholder in the satellite and space technology company.
This acquisition marks CSG's entry into the space sector, which the group describes as a natural extension of its existing defence and aerospace operations aligned with long-term strategy.
To manage expansion, CSG assembled a dedicated team including Head of Space Strategy and Technology Ladislav Stahl and Senior Adviser for Canada Cameron McKenzie to lead sector activities.
MDA Space Chief Executive Officer Mike Greenley said, "We welcome CSG's investment," while Chairman Michal Strnad stated the move reflects the group's conviction in the sector's importance.
Market projections suggest the global space economy will reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, driven by multi-year acceleration in global government space-defence spending.
