Crews battled fire north of Polson
Strong winds caused a fire near a wood stove chimney to spread rapidly, destroying the building while firefighters saved many contents and reported no injuries.
On Tuesday, a wind-driven structure fire destroyed a building just north of Polson off Fox Ln, beginning around 3:00 p.m.
According to a Facebook post by the Polson Rural Fire District, the fire is thought to have started around 3:00 p.m. near a wood stove chimney, where first crews found the roof burning.
Strong winds pushed flames through the attic, forcing firefighters to pull back and fight the fire from outside with a defensive exterior attack.
Officials declared the building a total loss with no injuries reported and many contents saved.
Automatic mutual aid mobilized the City of Polson Fire Department, Polson Ambulance Inc., and volunteer departments, crews conducted extensive overhaul operations, and all units cleared the scene by 7:30 p.m.
