4 in Life-Threatening Condition After Bus Carrying Oil-and-Gas Workers Rolls in Northern Alberta
RCMP say the cause remains under investigation after the charter bus rolled off Highway 672, sending four people to hospital in critical condition.
A charter bus carrying 17 oilfield workers rolled off Highway 672 northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Wednesday morning around 7 a.m. The vehicle, owned by Calgary-based Trican Well Service, sent all passengers to hospital.
Beaverlodge RCMP are investigating the rollover's cause, with Corporal Matthwer Howell confirming that speed, weather, and alcohol are not believed to be factors. Police confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Emergency Health Services-Alberta reported four passengers remain in critical condition, with two airlifted to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital by STARS air ambulance. Other injured received treatment via ground ambulance, NET vehicles, or self-transported to hospital.
No fatalities have been reported following the incident. Authorities temporarily closed the highway to facilitate emergency response, with officials expecting the route to reopen by Wednesday evening around suppertime.
RCMP continue to examine why the bus veered off the road as the investigation remains ongoing. Investigators have not released the identities of those injured, maintaining focus on the circumstances surrounding the rollover.
