Cowboys and Running Back Javonte Williams Agree on $24 Million, 3-Year Contract

On Feb. 21, 2026, the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a three-year, $24 million extension with running back Javonte Williams, announcing the deal on their website Saturday with $16 million guaranteed, ESPN reported.
Wanting to preserve the Dallas Cowboys offense under Dak Prescott and Brian Schottenheimer, Stephen Jones said last month Williams was 'at the top of our list' for a multi-year deal, which was finalized after a delayed agent switch.
Rushing for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2025, Williams produced career-best numbers on 252 carries while adding 35 receptions for 137 yards.
With Williams' deal done, the Cowboys can focus their cap and negotiation attention on George Pickens, who faces a March 3 franchise-tag deadline and a July 15 contract window.
The contract's $8 million AAV places Williams alongside D'Andre Swift on RB pay charts amid a stingy running back market; he has earned about $13.4 million in five seasons.
