COP30 fails to deliver ambitious action on fossil fuels, adaptation, finance and forests
COP30 in Belém concluded weakly this weekend as delegates went into overtime, failing to secure a real adaptation deal, a time-bound fossil fuel phase-out or an actionable forest roadmap.
A report presented at COP30 shows how extreme weather events are affecting global food security. Droughts and heat waves already reduce crops by three quarters of the world’s agricultural land, which requires accelerating new forms of adaptation.
