In 2016, a team of archaeologists from the Inrap intervened upstream of the extension of a waste landfill area in the commune of Bellegarde, between Nîmes and Arles. This preventive archaeological research has highlighted a recurrent human occupation of the premises for about 22,000 years, from ancient prehistory to modern epoch, through Protohistory, Antiquity and the Middle Ages!
