Avantgarde composer Peter Ablinger died at the age of 66

The Austrian composer Peter Ablinger has passed away. With his uncompromising sound research, he shaped New Music and was considered one of the most independent minds of the contemporary avant-garde.

In this week's lineup, we welcomed conductor João Paulo Santos, from the São Carlos National Theater, and the writer Nuno Duarte, winner of the Leya Prize in 2024.

The Austrian avant-garde composer Peter Ablinger has died. He died overnight in his adopted hometown of Berlin, according to the local Academy of Arts, which also manages the Peter Ablinger Archive. Born in Schwanenstadt on March 15, 1959, the Upper Austrian native was 66 years old and was one of the most renowned, albeit idiosyncratic, composers of our time.
