Hiker Found Alive After Being Stranded for Three Days on Cliffside in B.C.
Search teams found the 25-year-old hiker alive after three days, and a helicopter rescue mission is now underway, officials said.
- Comox Valley Search and Rescue confirmed Thursday that missing hiker Keshav Jindal has been found alive in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island after disappearing Monday, August 3.
- Searchers began looking for Jindal around 11 p.m. on Monday after he vanished on the trail to Mount Albert Edward. Seven search and rescue teams navigated the steep terrain to locate him.
- Rescue Manager Paul Berry described the 25-year-old as an inexperienced hiker who lost contact with his friend while hiking. Jindal told his friend the cellphone was losing power before disappearing.
- Campbell River, Arrowsmith, and Nanaimo Search and Rescue teams assisted the Comox Valley RCMP in the operation. A helicopter rescue mission extracted Jindal from the steep terrain where he was discovered.
- Prior to his recovery, the RCMP issued a press release on August 6 seeking public assistance to locate the 153 lbs hiker with black hair and brown eyes. The search operation has now concluded.
