May 5th is recognized as Red Dress Day in Canada, a National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals. Communities across Canada come together on this day through ceremonies, marches, and public gatherings to pay tribute to the victims. Various events are organized in the Ottawa Valley, such as ceremonies in Carleton Place, Mississippi Mills, Perth, Petawawa, and Smiths Falls.
