Colts release cornerback Kenny Moore after being unable to fulfill his trade request
The Colts cleared more than $7 million in salary-cap space after Moore asked for a trade and no deal materialized, the team said.
On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts released veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II at his request, ending his nine-year tenure with the franchise.
Moore requested a trade in April, but no deal materialized during the NFL draft, prompting the team to release him and save more than $7 million against the salary cap.
Over nine seasons in Indianapolis, Moore became a community pillar and three-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, recording 21 interceptions and 649 tackles.
Second-Year cornerback Justin Walley is projected to replace Moore in the slot, returning from an ACL tear under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo's guidance.
General manager Chris Ballard also released safety Nasir Adderley while adding five draft picks, including MIKE linebacker CJ Allen, to reshape the defense.
