Colorado Rockies' Kyle Freeland Scratched From Start in First Inning Due to Shoulder Soreness
The Rockies said Freeland felt tightness in pregame warmups and called him day to day after he was scratched.
Left-Hander Kyle Freeland was scratched from his scheduled start against the San Diego Padres on Sunday after the game began due to soreness in his left posterior shoulder.
Freeland felt tightness in his left shoulder during his pregame bullpen session, prompting Manager Warren Schaeffer to call his status "day to day" with more information expected tomorrow.
The Padres finished the four-game set with a 7-2 victory on Sunday, while Colorado's offense remained anemic, managing only two hits throughout the game.
"You can't win with hits," Schaeffer said, criticizing the team's early approach after they failed to swing at strikes and fell "behind the eight-ball."
The Rockies are off on Monday before beginning a three-game series at Houston on Tuesday, seeking to regroup after the four-game sweep.
