BREAKING: Cole Palmer Signs New Chelsea Contract
The England forward is rewarded for 4 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches as Chelsea extend its long-term retention drive.
Chelsea officially announced on Saturday that Cole Palmer signed an improved contract extension through 2034. The 24-year-old midfielder's new deal replaces his previous contract ending in 2033, rewarding his emergence as a key attacking player.
Palmer's renewal aligns with Chelsea's strategy to secure elite talent on long-term deals, joining Joao Pedro, Geovany Quenda, and Manchester City's Erling Haaland contracted through 2034. He originally joined Chelsea in 2023 for £42.5m.
Palmer has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven matches this season while rekindling his partnership with his "best friend in football," Morgan Rogers. He is increasingly viewed as a dressing-room leader under Manager Xabi Alonso.
Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed Palmer is available for Saturday's game against Bournemouth and insisted he remains committed to playing for England. "He's committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play," Alonso said.
Despite his form, Palmer missed the recent international break, prompting England manager Thomas Tuchel to say he "misses too many opportunities." This follows a difficult period where Palmer played through a groin injury he "probably shouldn't have done.
