Colapinto Handed Extra Grid Penalty at F1 Bahrain GP
Pirelli says Sepang is the best place to test wet tyres as teams still await the first wet race under the 2026 rules.
Formula One returns to the Sepang International Circuit this Sunday, October 4, 2026, for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which begins at 8am UK time, marking the venue's first hosting in nearly a decade.
Following the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix in April due to regional conflict, organizers moved the race to Malaysia, where Bahrain officials secured a venue 4,000 miles south-east to maintain their calendar position.
The Bahrain International Circuit and Motor Federation will cover the majority of the hosting fee, with 561 Bahraini marshals and officials managing logistics for the 56-lap race after stakeholders had 10 weeks to organize the event.
Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, chief executive of the Bahrain International Circuit, told Sky Sports the partnership "makes sense because the relationship between Bahrain and Malaysia has been strong," noting its importance for sponsors and teams.
With the season's calendar under pressure, this additional event helps Formula One meet its contractual requirement to hold 22 races, as drivers face a challenging 16-turn track with a 50% chance of rain for qualifying and the race.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is scheduled for this weekend (October 3rd and 4th). However, due to the time difference, Formula 1 fans have to adjust to unusually early transmission times.
