Cognizant to buy Astreya for about $600 million

The deal adds managed-services and AI OpsHub tooling as Cognizant targets the infrastructure layer that turns AI pilots into production systems, executives said.

  • On Wednesday, Cognizant Technology announced the acquisition of San Jose-based Astreya for approximately $600 million, expanding its AI infrastructure and managed services capabilities.
  • The deal plugs a specific gap in Cognizant's 'AI builder strategy' by providing operational expertise to design, build, and run the physical data center infrastructure that enterprise AI systems require.
  • Founded in 2001, Astreya employs more than 2,200 IT professionals across 33 countries, maintaining long-term managed services relationships with six of the 'Magnificent Seven' hyperscalers.
  • "We will be even better-positioned to help clients architect their platform-led AI systems and operationalize them at scale," said Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar, signaling focus on production-grade infrastructure delivery.
  • Hyperscaler capital spending nears $400 billion annually, with data centers accounting for 80% of private domestic demand growth in the first half of 2025, fueling infrastructure investment.
