Cognizant and Benchling Selected as Partners to Accelerate Kyowa Kirin's R&D
Cognizant will help deploy Benchling’s platform, which links lab instruments to structured data and AI models for faster drug discovery.
On August 16, 2026, Kyowa Kirin announced it selected Benchling as its AI research platform, with Cognizant providing implementation support at Tokyo Research Park and Fuji Research Park sites.
Kyowa Kirin, which has contributed to biotechnology for more than 70 years, seeks to address unmet medical needs by integrating "disease science" with "drug discovery technologies" to accelerate innovation.
Benchling embeds AI into daily workflows connected to years of experimental data, while Cognizant manages platform deployment, system maintenance, and data migration across the research lifecycle.
Nobuhiko Watanabe, President and Representative Director of Cognizant Japan, said the initiative is expected to "significantly improve drug discovery efficiency" and strengthen the company's position in the Japanese market.
Trusted by more than 1,300 companies worldwide, Benchling enables scientists to capture, connect, and act on data across the entire R&D lifecycle, aiming to deliver medicines to patients sooner.
