Co-Op Reveals Full List of 24 More UK Stores Opening Including One in Cumbria
The retailer said the expansion will lift its first-half 2026 total to more than 40 stores as it grows franchise sites and community hubs.
Co-Op announced plans to launch 24 new and transformed stores by the end of June 2026, strengthening its high street presence across Britain following 18 openings in the first quarter.
Operations Director Kate McCrae stated the retailer is focused on creating stores that "serve and support communities conveniently," with locations designed to act as "anchor" hubs providing fresh food and parcel services.
Exclusive discounts are available for more than 7 million members, while around 90% of the UK population can now access grocery delivery services through local stores.
Rapid franchise expansion aims to exceed 100 locations during 2026, building on the 65 stores operated at the end of 2025, with new sites in universities, hospitals, and petrol forecourts.
The retailer continues strengthening its commitment to British agriculture, ensuring all own-brand fresh and frozen meat products are 100% British as part of its ongoing 2026 investment programme.
