Roosters v Knights – NRL Grand Final
The Knights seek their first grand final since 2001 and a third premiership as they face the Roosters in the NRL decider.
On Sunday, the Newcastle Knights challenge the Sydney Roosters at Accor Stadium in the NRL Grand Final, seeking their first premiership since 2001.
Under coach Justin Holbrook, the Knights surged from last place in 12 months, while the Sydney Roosters have won four premierships since the turn of the century and consistently pursue titles.
Despite missing Dylan Brown due to injury, the Knights rely on fullback Kalyn Ponga and five-eighth Fletcher Sharpe, while the Roosters feature star recruit Daly Cherry-Evans.
Reflecting on the team's journey, Smith said, "The belief that we've had in this squad and the town backing us, I can't put into words what it's been like this year."
Half the current Knights squad was not born when the club last won a premiership in 2001, underscoring the magnitude of ending a 25-year title drought.
