Chrystia Freeland to publish political memoir, ‘Unreliable Boyfriend’
Simon & Schuster Canada calls the book part memoir, part analysis of the United States, with publication set for October.
Publisher Simon & Schuster Canada announced Wednesday that former minister Chrystia Freeland will release a political memoir in October titled 'An Insider's View of Dealing with a Chaotic Superpower, Plutocrats, and Other Complicated People.'
The book's title references a comment Freeland made on 'Real Time With Bill Maher' in February, when she stated the United States is 'not a very reliable boyfriend right now.'
As a key negotiator for CUSMA, Freeland made a negative impression on President Donald Trump, who in 2018 said, 'we don't like their representative very much.'
She served in cabinets under both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Prime Minister Mark Carney before resigning late last year to become an economic development adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Now CEO of the Rhodes Trust, Freeland's book arrives as the CUSMA pact faces a mandatory review next month, offering analysis on the evolving role of the United States.
