Choi Has Strong Start at LPGA South Korea to Move Into a Tie for 2nd Place After 3 Rounds
Choi opened with an eagle and seven birdies before settling for a 66 to join two others in second place, one shot behind the leader.
On Saturday, Hye-Jin Choi shot a 6-under 66 at the LPGA BMW Ladies Championship in Haenam, South Korea, moving into a tie for second place after three rounds.
Tournament leader Haeran Ryu holds a four-stroke lead at 17-under 199, while steady rain at Pine Beach Golf Links forced officials to use roller squeegees throughout the day.
After shooting 28 on her front nine and reaching 9-under, Choi bogeyed the 12th and double-bogeyed the 17th, as Minji Park and Yuri Yoshida also moved into second.
Seeking her first victory in 125 career LPGA Tour starts, Choi aims to improve upon her runner-up finish to Ruoning Yin last week in Shanghai.
Defending champion Sei Young Kim, who won last year in South Korea, shot 77 on Saturday to remain at even par, trailing significantly heading into the final round.
