Participants urged China and Malaysia to build a shared early warning system and improve biodiversity data sharing for regional ocean governance.
On Friday, Oct 30, 2026, the China-Malaysia Youth Ocean Dialogue convened at China Media Group's Sanya Studio, bringing together scientists, students, and environmental representatives from both nations to explore regional ocean governance.
Professor Dato Aileen Tan, a fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, urged China and Malaysia to establish a shared early warning system, emphasizing that cross-border cooperation protects regional ocean health.

Students including Khor Zin, Lee Jie Ning, and Yang Qing emphasized that scientific collaboration must extend beyond knowledge sharing to use technological innovation improving lives in both countries.
Chen Guangcheng of the Third Institute and Lim Kean Chong of the China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences stressed linking scientific research with policy support, noting that research transcends borders in addressing biodiversity.
