Essex Police Probe Fatal Lorry Crash That Killed Child in Ongar
Police say the 48-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail until mid-September.
On Friday, July 10, a child died following a collision involving a lorry on Epping Road in Ongar at 4:20 PM. Emergency services attended the scene, but the child sustained serious injuries and later passed away in hospital.
The 48-year-old driver from Derbyshire was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving. He was later further arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail until mid-September.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading the inquiry and urging anyone with information, CCTV, or dash cam footage to contact Essex Police. Witnesses should quote incident 1045 of July 10 when providing details.
