Chicago mayor praises school with just 2% adept readers as example of his values – Illinois Policy
In discussing the new contract with the Chicago Teachers Union, Mayor Brandon Johnson pointed to Dyett High School as “a great example of a sustainable community school.” Its basketball team won the state championship last month. But at Dyett High School - one of 20 sustainable community schools in CPS - only 2 percent of 11th-grade students could read at grade level on the SAT in 2024. None were proficient in math.
