Blink and You'll Miss Charli XCX With Extra-Long Bangs
Charli XCX’s latest single arrives with a runway video and a 30-minute YouTube pre-show that spotlights her fashion-forward rock era.
On Thursday night, Charli XCX released the music video for 'SS26,' a runway-themed concept directed by TORSO featuring the singer in high-fashion looks.
The track follows 'Rock Music,' her first standalone single since the 'Brat' era, marking a pivot away from dance music. Charli co-wrote and co-produced the song with A.G. Cook and Finn Keane.
Staged as a runway show, the video features fashion industry figures and celebrities. Former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Rotfield opens the video, remarking, "Fashion won't save us. But let's go on the runway and walk."
Charli teased the upcoming release on Monday, posting the song's lyrics on her Substack. The singer preempted the video with a 30-minute 'Pre Show' on YouTube, where she showcased designer outfits.
Both 'SS26' and 'Rock Music' will be included on Charli's yet-untitled seventh studio album. The video continues a theme of a runway that "goes straight to hell" during a couture season coinciding with "when the world is gonna end.
