- On Friday, King Charles surprised theatregoers by attending a sold-out performance of The Tempest at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, starring Sir Kenneth Branagh.
- As patron of the Royal Shakespeare Company since 2024, the King watched this landmark production marking Branagh's historic return to Stratford-upon-Avon after over 30 years and Sir Richard Eyre's debut directing.
- During the interval, the King toured the in-house costume department, admiring a robe worn by David Tennant and a dress from Dame Judi Dench, describing the collection as "brilliant."
- Co-Artistic directors Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey said welcoming the King was a "tremendous honour," noting he delighted the audience by sitting among them and gave a standing ovation.
- Running until June 20, The Tempest is one of the last plays written by Shakespeare and represents a major draw for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre this season.
