The Château de Chambord announced on Thursday 17 September 2026 that it had gathered more than one million euros for the restoration of the François I wing. More than 5,500 people contributed.
Since 2019 no visitors have been able to enter this part from 1539 on the right flank to accommodate the private apartments and the council hall of King Francis I.
Launched in September 2025, the campaign brought together more than 5,500 donors. The castle can now continue the work undertaken to secure the wing, closed to the public since 2019.
"At the launch of this campaign, we were planning to collect 100,000 euros in one year.
