The initiative amends the Code of Criminal Procedure and Act No. 19.970, which creates the National System of DNA Records, and allows laboratories of the Carabineros, the PDI and the Legal Medical Service to carry out certain checks and forward their results directly to the Public Prosecutor ' s Office or the courts.
The proposal will allow accredited laboratories of Carabineros and the Investigative Police to directly cross-check genetic fingerprints, thereby reducing response times, supporting the clarification of crimes.
