CentreBC's Sturko Promises Manufacturing Boost
Elenore Sturko said the party would add new funding for prefabricated homes, mass timber and food processing to keep more work in province.
- On Friday, CentreBC leader and Surrey South candidate Elenore Sturko announced plans to double the Manufacturing Jobs Fund to $60 million, supporting companies building prefabricated homes, mass timber, and food processing facilities.
- Sturko, a former Surrey-Cloverdale MLA, emphasized diversifying the economy through value-added manufacturing projects, arguing the province should process lumber into finished goods rather than "shipping logs out of the province."
- CentreBC's platform relies on costed-out programs with public scorecards for every grant project. "British Columbians deserve to see credible plans that are measurable and achievable," Sturko said.
- Addressing workforce needs, the party committed additional resources to job training, ensuring residents are "first in line for the jobs" created by manufacturing growth and new plant upgrades.
- CentreBC will release its broader platform on Saturday, Oct. 10, alongside opening a new campaign headquarters in South Surrey on King George Blvd during the Oct. 24 provincial election campaign.
